Lisa Yetter Ulrich: Group Fitness Coordinator

Q:    What’s your favorite thing about teaching?
A:    I love the connection with participants, who I consider my friends. We have a ton of fun while always getting a great workout together.

Q:    What inspires you?
A:    Selflessness, kindness, generosity to name a few.

Q:    When was the last belly laugh you had and what made it happen?
A:    Today in BODYPUMP™ when I did a “Chest Bump” with two members. You know who you are!

Q:    If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and what would you be doing?
A:    New Zealand.  Predictable? Yes! It is my hope to visit New Zealand some day and attend a Les Mills™ filming with my Anu crew.

Q:    If you could say something to everybody in the world what would you say?
A:    It is never too late to start exercising and living a healthier life. You just need to start. Good health leads to more good stuff!

Q:    Who is your hero/heroine? Am I only allowed to say one?!
A:    My friend, Bernie, is my hero. He has always been someone who goes out of his way to say or do something thoughtful. He is selfless, kind and generous, which as you know, inspires me. As a retired schoolteacher he has influenced so many over the years. It is an honor to call him my friend and hero.

Q:    Favorite thing about teaching?
A:    I love so many things about teaching.   The interaction with the students and everything I learn from them.  I may be the “ teacher” but the lessons come from them. I know in my heart of hearts that I need to practice in order to be the best teacher I can be so I do what I can when I can. The true yoga for me started as the physical, but now it is so much more. I now have many tools in my toolbox that I have learned from yoga.  It is the students who have taught me thru their experiences and stories of yoga that continue to bring me to my mat and share that with others.

Teaching requires a certain type of energy different than anything else I do in my life.  It requires being able to create a safe and warm environment for students, paying attention to each person in the room and designing a class to meet the needs of all present.  Sometimes there are classes where it feels like everything flows like water and other times there are rough terrains for whatever reason.  And it’s our job to be present with whatever comes our way. Yoga is a lifestyle and that is what I want to share through my teaching.

Q:    What inspires you?
A:    My family and friends. Yoga, nature, meditation, Grateful Dead, Sigur Ros and lots of 70’s & 80’s music. Healthy food grown organically inspires me to be a healthier person, so that leads me to why I have my own garden.

Q:    What was the last belly laugh you had and what made it happen?
A:    Sitting with a couple coworkers and watching a You Tube video on How to Poop at Work?  It was hilarious. And you may be thinking why would she post this to the public.  Because it is a human reality and I loved it. Watch it and you will see why?

Q:    If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be and what would you be doing?
A:    India, studying with the Ayurvedic physicians. Or Maui, laying on the beach under the warm sun

Q:    If you could say something to everybody in the world what would you say?
A:    “Be the change you wish to see in the world” Ghandi

Q:    Who is your hero/Heroine?
A:    I would say my mom has been my heroine  since I was a young child. She is my mother, my sister, my best friend and the life lessons I learned from her helped me to be strong in many situations.  Then she brought my stepdad into my life who is my hero.  He motto is “Carpe Diem”  which means “Seize the Day” and he truly does that.  He starts each day with a smile, a positive and optimistic outlook on life.  He has always been this way. And now he has Stage 4 cancer and his outlook has not changed.  Each moment and each day are a chance to reflect on how we want to live our lives.  So each day I sit in awe at how he lives his and only hope I can follow in his footsteps.

Pat Dardis, LES MILLS™ BODYPUMP, RPM™

Pat Dardis: BODYFLOW™, BODYPUMP™

Q:   What’s your favorite thing about teaching?
A:    Seeing the positive results on a person’s fitness

Q:    What inspires you?
A:    Making a difference in someone’s fitness

Q:    When was the last belly laugh you had and what made it happen?
A:    Helping my son pee outside.  Do to the nature of the emergency we didn’t have time to go inside so I made the executive decision to commune with nature.  We found a bush out of site from others to do our deed.  As I held him I couldn’t understand why he wasn’t holding still.  He kept pushing his head back and arching his back.  I then realized I was pushing his face into the leaves and branches.  I guess I was concentrating on other areas.  I still laugh to this day remembering the expression on his face.  He was such a trooper.

Q:    If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and what would you be doing?
A:    Maui.  Sitting on the beach listening to the waves.

Q:    If you could say something to everybody in the world what would you say?
A:    Use common sense

Q:    Who is your hero/heroine
A:    Those people who help others without any expectations of glory or fame.

Michele Molina, LES MILLS™ CXWORX™, BODYFLOW

michele-anuQ:    What do you love about teaching?
A:    I love watching participants grow with a release.  When it is brand new to them, they are trying to take everything in at once.  When they have done it for awhile, they can stop, and listen…..to their bodies, to the music, to the coaching, and the whole experience of the class just gets better.

Q:     What inspires you?
A:     I am inspired by everyone who shows up!  Everyone is busy, and when people make time in their busy schedules to come to class, I am incredibly inspired by them, and want to give them the best class ever!

Q:    When was the last belly laugh you had and what made it happen?
A:    When I was learning the new choreography for CXWORX, I thought I had it down, and put the music in, and followed along with my notes.  I started the music over 4 times before I realized I was looking at the wrong page of notes.  I talked to Rebecca and found out that she did exactly the same thing, and a huge belly laugh was had both both of us.

Q:     If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and what would you be doing?
A:     I would be doing something somewhere with my husband and four kids.  Doesn’t matter where or what, just the togetherness is enough.

Q:    If you could say something to everybody what would you say?
A:    Movement is a gift we can give ourselves everyday.  BODYFLOW is a perfect union of movement, music and breath.

Q:    Who is your hero/heroine?
A:    The patients I work with are my heroes and heroines.  Their gift of movement has been lost and they work so incredibly hard to find it again.

Rebecca Mannikko

Janet Cosgrove: BODYFLOW™

Q:    What do you love about teaching?
A:    I love to share what I love, this class inspired by music, grounded in technique, and open to interpretation while strengthening and easing both the body and the mind.  Body Flow class lives up to its design, giving new meaning to “group fitness.”  Magical moments take place while we work individually as a part of the group.  It feels good to hear members say, “aah, this is just what I need.”  “I love this class.”  Teaching this class is a beautiful experience for me.

Q:    What inspires you?
A:    Music inspires me, the universal power and expression of music.

Q:    When was the last belly laugh you had and what made it happen?
A:    It was today, like most days, but I couldn’t retell it as funny as it was….”you had to be there.”  It takes only an ironic subtlety, an amusing predicament (too often, one of my own), or a witty one- liner to make me laugh out loud.

Q:    If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and what would you be doing?
A:    Well, where is my man, Fernando, who one summer night, swept me off my feet?  Whether in Cartagena or anywhere else, I want to be there, dancing with him.

Q:    If you could say something to everybody what would you say?
A:    Right now is a great time to discover Anu.  Please, come join the group!

Q:    Who is your hero/heroine?
A:    Pippi Longstocking is my heroine, yes, because she displays courage, curiosity and enthusiasm for life always…despite living with red hair and freckles.

Q:    What do you love about teaching?
A:    I love the surprising changes in perspective, the times when you are not expecting it, the times that it challenges you most, and the times that you know you are exactly where you’re meant to be.
But most of all, I love being able to teach those who truly desire to learn and being able to watch students grow in their practice as well as off the mat.

Q:    What inspires you?
A:    Being barefoot in the grass. Hearing a song that hits you at just the right moment.  Trees.  The people I have surrounding me; Family, Friends, Teachers, Mentors, Students.

Q:    When was the last belly laugh you had and what made it happen?
A:    Honestly, its hard to keep track. Laughter is incorporated into almost every day of my life. I’d say…The people in my life are the ones that bring out the most joy. But I’d have to say, lately, my mom has brought out the best belly laughs. Being in the same bed every day, she somehow seems to keep her goofiness alive by dancing with her arms or joking around with her nurses and visitors.

Q:    If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and what would you be doing?
A:    In Maui, Hawaii, with my mom on the beach that she got married on. Reading to her, doing yoga (of course), and writing a memoir of our best stories.

Q:    If you could say something to everybody what would you say?
A:    You always always always, have something to be grateful for.

Q:    Who is your hero/heroine?
A:    My mom is my hero, hands down.

Q:    What do you love about teaching?
A:    I love seeing the change in the members.  Whether it is by getting stronger, more confident or weight loss.  The joy it brings to me to know I helped to make a difference in someone’s life and motivated them to be healthier.

Q:    What inspires you?
A:    The idea that we can all be better and improve ourselves, whether being more positive, helping another person or making a positive change in our own lives.

Q:    When was the last belly laugh you had and what made it happen?
A:    I am very lucky, there have been quite a few of those moments lately and they are all tied back to my boyfriend.  We have a lot of fun together and act silly a lot of times.  Life is way too short to not laugh.

Q:    If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and what would you be doing?
A:    That is such a hard question to answer.  There are so many places I have on my bucket list to see.  I would be taking in the beauty of wherever I was knowing how fortunate I am in my life and I hope that that special someone in my life would be standing right next to me enjoying the experience.

Q:    If you could say something to everybody what would you say?
A:    Change is inevitable, it is how we respond to that change that gets us through.  Always be true to yourself and kind to others and never take yourself to seriously.

Q:    Who is your hero/heroine?
A:      My mother is my heroine.  I am so fortunate to have grown up the way I did.  My mother’s strength, loving nature and selflessness are something I can only hope to aspire to.

Q:    What’s your favorite thing about teaching?
A:    I am so blessed to go to a job everyday that I LOVE, and I get to share that love with other people! In a world full of stress and unhealthy habits I enjoy being able to pull my students away from that reality for just a little while to focus on their health and personal growth and empowerment. To have a student tell you, “I did that because you made me believe I could” is the best feeling in the world.

Q:    What inspires you?
A:    As an ultramarathoner I have the amazing opportunity to run through areas that are not seen by most, to me nature is the ultimate inspiration!  Just recently I did a race in Lake Tahoe and was able to see a view from the lake at almost 10,000 feet, AMAZING!!!

Q:    When was the last belly laugh you had and what made it happen?
A:    I have a rescue cat named ChiChi who is the biggest ham you would ever see! Just recently he has figured out how to open up almost all of the doors in our house! I am pretty much guaranteed to get a belly laugh from him on a daily basis!

Q:    If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and what would you be doing?
A:    I am in love with the mountains of Colorado. Put me on a trail somewhere above 10,000 feet and I would be in heaven!

Q:    If you could say something to everybody in the world what would you say?
A:    Give yourself a little time everyday to take care of YOU! By doing this you will be a much better parent, spouse, friend, employee, and human being!

Q:    Who is your hero/heroine?
A:    My mother is my heroine. She is absolutely the strongest person I know!
